I have been working on a hankie shirt. I purchased these hankies a few years ago and I’ve been seeing clothing using them (Pinterest) and I decided to give it a try. This is an old…Old Navy all cotton shirt, which I haven’t worn in a bit. It’s also one of the shirts from our overseas trip last year and I took a carry-on for 18 days and I wore it a LOT !
I haven’t been able to sit at my sewing machine for along time. It’s right there…but I sit down and I just can’t do it. And right now that has to be OK ! So, my shirt is hand stitches and hand quilted (top stitched). I laid it out on the dining room table and didn’t put it away. The idea was see it, do it. It worked !

I used a total of 4 hankies, washed and ironed. I cut and appliqued each down and then hand quilted around the outside edge.

Removed top stitching and cut down center and added hankie, stitched and top stitched.
This is my finished shirt. Only thing I would change is not adding to the side seams, it was not needed. I added a tuck or dart to fix it, or so you can’t see my bra !

And before you ask, You can use a sewing machine ! And, yes I really am that brown, Florida baby ! I wear sunscreen and now a swim shirt, (the one I wear) Sun hat too (the one I wear)
