A Flowering Tree of Magnolia’s

It’s been a bit for me and my camera. I have missed it so, I spent the other morning with flowers here in Florida. Doesn’t it seem as time has stopped or stood still in our lives, I feel it in mine, but flowers keep making me smile in their every day ways.
These Magnolia’s were opening up as to greet me.
The light was perfect and I never opened up my umbrella to protect my shots from the sun, which is rare here. Enjoy your Saturday, as much as I enjoyed my Tuesday.

What I do at 4:30 AM…..I shop !
Sounds sad, but sometimes I just can’t sleep. Maybe it’s the laptop sitting…waiting for me…calling me by name!?!?

If it was a normal time, I would be ordering something over the top to wear out, BUT not so, it’s a little red dress that I can always wear, dress up, dress down, wear with a sweater and legging. That BLACK dress…has me written all over it ! LOVE!!

I will share when it arrives !

Quilted Table Topper

When I was teaching, this is my beginner’s quilt 5 week class, the class would have used 2 1/2″ squares, I cut mine down for a table topper size, 1 1/2 inch squares. Machine pieced and hand quilted. HERE is my binding tutorial for you

On a regular size quilt, I would cut my binding strips 2 1/2″ wide, but on this little one, I cut them 1 1/4″ wide.

I like, little quilts to have little binding.

All the sewing is the same, 1/4″ seam allowance.

But, I like to trim the backing and batting about in half.

This is before the binding is turned and sewn down. You can turn it under and see what you like before trimming around the entire quilt. I like to hand sew the binding down, I can get the corners, better and yes, you will have to mess with them a bit to get them perfect, they are VERY tiny.

I love applique and I spent many a day on a bleacher or in the car waiting for the boys to finish a practice appliqueing. This is one for the first, hand appliqued and hand quilted.
