Finished block will be 6″ x 6″

Cutting for ONE Block

Cut 2 Green – 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″

cut each block from corner to corner

(shown as gray)

Cut 1 Pink 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

cut corner to corner and then again, corner to corner

(shown as red )

Cut 1 White 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

cut corner to corner and then again, corner to corner

(shown as white)

Piece 4 blocks together as shown

Sew into rows

Sew rows together

My Great-Great Grandmother’s Quilt
This quilt was a gift to my mother from her Great Grandmother. And then a Gift to me from My Mother. Making it my, GREAT-GREAT Grandmother’s Gift to ME ! Well…That’s how I like to look at it.

I never met her and my mom only remembered helping with the peddle sewing machine. I use this quilt and love sleeping under it. It goes in the washer and now living here in Florida and not having a clothes line it does go it the dryer….Yes… it bothers me too, but…. the colors are still very bright, but the Florida sun won on these photo’s.

The hand quilting on this quilt is WONDERFUL

It’s fun for me to draw quilt blocks out on graph paper. They make me happy and I love the other ideas it sparks as I do them. This is one of my quilt blocks.

Today I’m sharing my Rolling Bow Tie Quilt Pattern Block.

Finished Quilt Block is Sixteen Inches by Sixteen Inches (16″ x 16″)

Cut 1 White – 6 ½” x 6 ½”

Cut 1 Lt. Blue – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 Blue – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Mark squares corner to corner SEWING LINE.
Place on corner, good side to good, sew on line, trim and press

Cut 4 Lt. Blue – 3 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut 4 Blue – 3 ½” x 3 ½” Sew as shown and add on sides.

Cut 1 Lt. Blue – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 Blue – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 2 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8” Make triangles

Cut 12 White – 2 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 Lt. Blue – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 Blue – 1 ½” x 1 ½” Sew rows as shown, sew to the top and bottom

Cut 4 Lt. Blue – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Blue – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 8 ½” Sew into rows and sew on top and bottom

Free Rolling Bow Quilt Block Pattern

Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 2 Lt. Blue and 2 Blue – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 2 ½” Sew row as shown, sew on sides

IF you make four quilt blocks and add two inch sashing you will have a 34 inch by 34 inch quilt.

Fish Quilt Block Pattern

Always time to make a Quilt Block

This is Husband’s Fish Quilt block.
This quilt has been traveled with, used and it’s the softest quilt in the house !
The quilt block has a finished size of 10″ x 10″, quilt block pattern is below, simple half-square triangles and patchwork squares, it will be great with prints or soft pastels.

This quilt is loved, used, washed and dried. Finished size of ONE quilt block is ten inches by ten inches. For Husband’s quilt I made 6 quilt blocks, added sashing and binding. It’s long to be used in a reclining chair and in his sleep bag on fishing trips.

Cutting for this ONE block as shown on the Left

Cut 12 Green – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Cut 12 White – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Make Triangles How I make Triangles

Cut 16 White – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Cut 4 White – 3 1/2 x 2 1/2″
Cut 4 White – 4 1/2″ x 10 1/2″

Sew as Shown

Do this 4 times to make a School of Fish!

This quilt block is half triangles and half log cabin and one of those that make me smile !
The quilt block has a finished size of 12″ x 12″.
I did cut and lay these quilt fabric colors out, you do you! I like the color likeness on the sides.

From Son #2’s Graduation quilt from 2000, the quilts been used and loved. This has always been a favorite pattern of mine.

And, before you ask, I don’t know the name.

Make into 9-patch

Doing Me and Doing Somethings I have wanted to do for Along Time.

Going Old School

After years of taking care of everyone else, I’ve discovered it’s okay to spend time doing what I want to do. Not what needs to be done, dished, laundry, THOSE have to dos ! ! Just something that brings me joy.

BUT of course I am sewing quilt blocks together, this past week I shared a quilt I have been working on the past few days on facebook and here is the pattern for you.

Cut 4 White – 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
Cut 1 Center – 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
Cut 4 Points – 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″

Cut 8 Points 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Draw a line on wrong side of fabric,
sew on that line, trim and press out, add other side, trim and press.

Cut 1 border – 12 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ sew to the top
Cut 1 border – 13 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ sew to the right side
Cut 1 border – 13 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ sew to the bottom
Cut 1 border – 14 1/2″ x 1/12″ sew to the left side

I am loving time…funny to say, but with time coming softness and joy. I am over the moon proud of my book here and thank you all for your purchases for yourself and as a gifts.

Oz Vacation – Took a bit of Normal Back

A Quilt Pattern and OZ

We took a few days away. Something fun we planned and purchased Nov 2025, nothing rushed, just a little time to breathe, rest, and step away. When life, health and PT became too much since February the saying was, “WE are going in May!” and we did it ! And honestly? It was good. Sometimes you don’t realize how tired you are until you sit still long enough to notice it.And…YES, OZ was as fantastic has I had hoped it would be, my apple was caught by the gentlemen in front of me, he turned and handed it to me, “For you” he will never know how wonderful this apple is to me.

Coming home is its own kind of adjustment too. The laundry waits. The calendar starts back up. Orchids/lanai needed attention. The sewing room looks exactly how you left it… but somehow feels a little different after being away. I am lowly find our way back into a rhythm that feels comfortable again. And maybe that’s the real lesson: “normal” doesn’t always come back exactly the same.

I have been sewing on a new quilt this past weekend, one seam, one row, one block at a time. Making short moments into my joy.

So this week, I’m easing back into my days. A little quilting. A little writing. A little reorganizing. Nothing dramatic. Just finding my footing again and being thankful for the quiet goodness of ordinary days.

Cold Weather, Crazy Days, and Getting Everything Done

It’s February, and it’s cold. Yes, even here in Florida. Opened tubs that were moved over ten years ago, and the jeans fit ! !
This is the the kind of cold that makes piling on quilts a necessary, you know when you get in and you can’t roll over ! ! I love that feeling!

I finished up my Laundry Hall Originals, 16″ x 20 and they are something I have wanted to do for a bit.

And this picture is just something I have wanted to do. Yes, 2026 is kind of all about me. I have to start feeling better.

I had thought it would be on the back wall of the laundry, but…I have a very hard time reaching the cabinets so I added a shelf…I added the vases to the dining room. Where there is a wall, there is art !

With all the noise in the world, my anxiety and me, have had a few moments. I turned to finished up this quilt, added borders and now ready for long arm quilting.

Starting Small Still Counts with Just About Everything

From Quilts to Exercise…

I am writing with a very heavy heart.
I am going a head with what I had planned, BUT…

Well…I tried, but goals change…sometimes really fast. I had good intentions about going back to the gym this year. Really solid plans of course a new outfit, new shoes, half the reason to go !Free Quilt Pattern

But here’s the thing… (having a thing is like, I got a guy for that project) I’m back to swimming every day instead. Turns out after 2 weeks and 5 visits my knees, my schedule, and my general attitude all voted for I am staying with the pool. No loud music, no mirrors, no pretending I enjoy machines. My steady pace, quiet water, and a reminder that moving your body doesn’t have to make me feel “Am I doing it right?”

So, my only buy a month plan was good, my start small plan as good and the weather changed from the 50’s to the 70’s, have invited me back into the pool of possibilities of feeling better.

Fresh Starts, Gentle Pace

And a Big Number Birthday,, I Can’t Believe

First, I need to vent a bit ! !
We’ve been trying very hard to make January feel quieter than usual.
That’s a little tricky here in Florida, where neighbors arrive for three months of vacation…and we live here all twelve. Add in record low temperatures and pool heater is turned off until the daily high hits 74 degrees. I don’t think that needs explaining and let’s just say it’s been a but funny…

But stepping back from all that? Happiness has come from it.

I had a birthday a few days ago. Not a big one, no balloons or banners, just a big number that I still can’t quite believe belongs to me. You know the kind. The number that makes you pause, laugh a little, and double-check the math. It showed up quietly, just like January tends to do. And honestly? I didn’t feel the need to make a big deal out of it…but let me eat cake!

I had planned to use only the fabric I already owned. To stop thinking everything has to be new. That plan lasted until about the 14^th of January

( And yes, it’s my husband’s fault. HA, HA.) he had a heart appointment, and the shop is right across the street. I had to stop.
Best plans aside, reality is this: I love fabric.

This Quilt Block is All About me and it’s one of my Favorites. I made it into a throw pillow and I see it and sometimes use it daily.
