This quilt block is half triangles and half log cabin and one of those that make me smile !
The quilt block has a finished size of 12″ x 12″.
I did cut and lay these quilt fabric colors out, you do you! I like the color likeness on the sides.

Cut 18 Assorted Colors – 1 ½ x 2 ½”

Piece as shown for the center

Cut 2 White – 1 ½” x 6 ½”
Sew to left and right side

Cut 2 White – 1 1/2” x 8 ½”
Sew to top and bottom

Cut 4 Yellow – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 4 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

B. Annie Quilt Pattern is all about ME! I don’t say that a lot.

This Quilt started with a simple Bear Paw quilt block and then drawing and drawing sixteen quilt blocks that took that simple block and made all sixteen mine.

The quilt as always going to have white background, I love quilt lines on white fabric, pink of course that’s me, adding color with greens, red, in both solids and prints. The outside border is pieced with green square and triangle leaves.

Have you ever made a quilt and as each quilt block is finished you giggle at what you just did? This is how I felt as this quilt was going together, into a finished eighty-eight by eighty-four-inch quilt. Kind of Perfect.

That’s my B. Annie quilt all about ME! Should say that more, one of my faults? Maybe it’s just taking care of so many.

Now IF you have read this far?!?! and who does?!? I am going to share these! Yes, AI helped me do them.
BUT I did all the art, all the quilt blocks, all the sewing, quilting, the quilt book cover, and naming everything, it HELPED me put it together in an ad sheet… AND I LOVE it! Just need to share !
AND it took me a bit of time to do!

I’m sharing one of The Quilt Ladies Quilt Patterns, a simple pumpkin quilt pattern. Finished quilt top is 15” X 15”

Start piecing from top to bottom.

Row 1

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½” x 3”

Cut 1 Stem – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Row 2 and Row 4

Cut 1 Orange – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Cut 1 Background – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Make Triangle

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Row 3

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½’ x 3 ½”

Cut 1 Orange – 4 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut 6 Background – 1 ½” x 6 ½”

Sew between 2 pumpkins, and on ends 2 times

Cut 3 Background 1 ½” x 15 ½”

Sew to the top, middle and bottom

Cut Binding 2 ½” x 65”

Last week we learned to use freezer paper and made a 4-patch quilt block, today let me share how to make a triangle quilt block.

Many quilt blocks start with squares and triangles and this is the way I learned to do they SO many years ago. Of course there are new methods, do and use what you like, you do YOU!

How to make Triangles
Take the finished size, add 7/8″ to it and that’s the size you cut your square. You want a FINISHED size Quilt Block of 2 inches, you cut the fabric 2 7/8″ to get it. etc. etc. (if using freezer paper cut it example: 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″)

Place good side of fabric to good side of fabric,
with a pencil draw a line corner to corner, this is
The line you measure your ¼” seam allowance from
Sew from edge to edge use a ¼” seam
Cut in half on the pencil line, trim threads
Open and press to the dark fabric,
There will be 2 blocks

Clip off the end triangles

This quilt block is from my quilt book which started my quilt pattern company “The Ladies” quilt pattern book.

“The Ladies” are The Quilt Ladies. They quilt every Tuesday together and after years of doing that, they’ve decided to do a quilt pattern book. So “The Ladies” was born, a quilt block sampler pattern book with 68 – Eight by Eight Inch quilt pattern blocks. If you make the quilt as in the book the finished quilt measures 76″ x 84″ All straight pieced, all cutting and piecing instructions included. And NOW in Print and eBook

Quilt Block has a finished size of eight inches by eight inches.

Mending the Fish Quilt

Fixing a Loved Quilt

Last weeks, weekly quilt block was my fish quilt block I did for Husband.
We have a culture here in our family of NOT giving up our quilts and here is how I fixed Husband’s fish quilt.

Last weeks quilt block pattern.

Laying out each place to repair

Pinned it really good

And used applique stitches, by hand.

They were all on seams, fabric becoming weak?
I think YEARS of use.

AND let me add…PLEASE press your seams to ONE side, DO NOT press as you would making clothes. I know it’s a thing now to press open, but DON’T you will only weaken the threads and seam.

Looks pretty good !

Fish Quilt Block Pattern for You to Make

Quilt Block Fun

This weeks quilt block is Husband’s Fish Quilt block. This quilt has been traveled with, used and it’s the softest quilt in the house !
This quilt block has a finished size of 10″ x 10″, quilt block pattern is below, simple half-square triangles and patchwork squares, it will be great with prints or soft pastels.

This quilt is loved, used, washed and dried. Finished size of ONE quilt block is ten inches by ten inches. For Husband’s quilt I made 6 quilt blocks, added sashing and binding. It’s long to be used in a reclining chair.

Cutting for this ONE block as shown on the Left

Cut 3 Green – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Cut 3 White – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Make Triangles

Cut 4 White – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Cut 1 White – 3 1/2 x 2 1/2″
Cut 1 White – 4 1/2″ x 10 1/2″

Sew as Shown

You will need FOUR of this block to make a School of Fish!

How to make Triangles
Take the finished size, add 7/8″ to it and that’s the size you cut your square. You want a FINISHED size Quilt Block of 2 inches, you cut the fabric 2 7/8″ to get it. etc. etc. (if using freezer paper cut it example: 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″)
