How to Tie a Quilt with Yarn
This quilt post just keeps going and going. I’m re-posting it as I think to tie a quilt is a quick way to finish a quilt which is to be loved and used.
As with everything I’m sure there are a few ways of doing a tied quilt, this is the way “I” do it.

I use these needles, sometimes a larger one and sometimes not. After doing them I really think it’s how I feel that day !
I like my cutting mat UNDER the quilt, so I don’t push through and chip my table top.
Cut yarn about 30 inches long one thickness.
From the side you will see the knot, go down and up, going though, top, batting and backing.
Pull needle through, leave about a 2 inch tail form the first knot.
Come back through again,
DO NOT cut yarn, travel to next knot and repeat.
I do all the knots and then cut them all at the same time.
I hand tie or we say tack some quilts…
Like my mom did. I am having a hard time finding needles that have a large eye, big enough for my needle threaded to go through, and are very sharp. Where do you buy your needles? I’ve looked and ordered some that states for hand tying but my threaded wouldn’t go through the eye. Love you article.
Do u think u could make a tee shirt quilts like this?
Yes anything can be tired. Make sure you layer the t-shirt with some kind of iron on facing, it maybe hard to needle it. But could be done. Good Luck
