Valentine’s Day Quilt Topper

A Gift for YOU !

Valentine Table Topper – This quilt is made using 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ cut quilt blocks. My table topper quilt was machine pieced and I hand quilted with straight lines. The finished quilt table topper will measure 24″ x 18″

A simple square is always a good thing in quilting.
I cut 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square.
Piecing 7 quilt squares across and 10 down, you will need a total of 70 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ red quilt squares
Cut 2 Red – 20 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Sew to the long sides
Cut 2 Red – 14 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Cut 4 Corner – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Sew to the 14 1/2″ Strip
Sew to the Top and BottomCut Binding 2 1/2″ x 86″

A good wall hanging and table center piece.

Let’s Sew a Quilt Block – Doing Wednesday

Make an Eight by Eight Inch Quilt Block

A free quilt pattern for you and I’m doing it a bit different, sharing the pattern as usual, but then I will walk you through the piecing of the quilt pattern.
I break the quilt block down showing you how a quilt pattern which may look difficult is done. If you don’t need help piecing a block, just get started ! ! How to make quilt triangles

“Duck’s Foot in Mud” The quilt block name is cute too. Finished quilt block is 8″ x 8″

Cutting for entire block

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 1 Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Make your triangles – How to link

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 1 Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 8 Assorted Colors – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Cut 8 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Lay your pieces out and sew together each set as shown,

Sew those units into the block.

Cut 2 White – 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Do this 2 times

Cut 2 Lt. Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Sew rows into block

September is in the Air and Time for a NEW Quilt Pattern

Here in Florida it kind of feels like the start of fall, in the high 80″s?!? Afternoon rains have changed to all day and I like it, gives a reason to be in my sewing room most of the day. My newest quilt pattern is “September Quilt” with four different ways to make it into quilt.

Using all four units is the featured quilt with a finished size is 72″ x 72″
Using just unit 1 the quilt will have a finished size of 72″ x 72″
Unit 1 and 2 quilt block will give your a quilt 60″ x 60″
And using units 1,2 and 3 will give you a quilt 96″ x 70″

Little BUT Mighty Quilt Block Pattern

Happy 4th of JULY

TODAY, it’s a LITTLE quilt pattern block for you to make. This little quilt block has a finished size of two inches by two inches. I use a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew the seam and then trim down to about an 1/8″ seam allowance and press, as you would with a larger quilt block. SEE all my quilt patterns HERE

1 Dark 1 7/8” X 1 7/8”
1 White 1 7/8” X 1 7/8”
Make largest triangles

2 Medium 1 3/8″ X 1 3/8″
2 White 1 3/8″ X 1 3/8″
Make smaller triangle

2 White 1″ X 1″
2 Light 1″ X 1″

Cut 4 Gray – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Yellow – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8” Cut corner to corner

Sew triangle unit together

Cut 2 Yellow – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 2 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 4 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut corner to corner

Sew triangle unit together

Cut 1 Yellow – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 4 ½”

Sew together as shown

I have to do different things in quilting to keep it interesting to me. This is one of my little quilt patterns, finished size two inches by two inches.
