A Holiday Quilt – Time to Start

Holiday Quilt Pattern features TWELVE – Twelve by Twelve Inches quilt pattern blocks and they are made into a 62″ x 78″ quilt.

This quilt can be done in ANY colors ! How about a dark blue background, white and yellow blocks, let yourself have fun. No matter the colors, it’s Holiday Quilt time.

I’m sharing the pattern as usual, but then I will walk you through the piecing of that pattern. I break the block down showing you how a quilt pattern is pieced. If you don’t need help piecing a block, get started ! !

“Duck’s Foot in Mud” finished size of this quilt block pattern is eight inches by eight inches.

Cutting for entire block

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 1 Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 8 Assorted Colors – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Cut 8 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 2 Lt. Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Make your triangles – How to link

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Lay your pieces out and sew together each set as shown,

Sew those units into the block.

Today is my birthday, 63 and getting better and better ! So, today I am sharing one of my favorite quilt block patterns. This quilt block has a finished size of 16″ x 16″, it uses triangles and squares, put together in units as you sew.

This is the ONE for me, hint, hint Husband !

A new sewing machine is always a welcome gift, I have a Brother sewing machine, and have enjoyed it for over four years now. Look around and see what YOU like. I have the third one and I really like it.

I thought, BEFORE I got a wool pressing mat, that they wouldn’t change anything…well….I was wrong. I love mine, it’s on my ironing table and I use it all the time.

Quilt Batting is ALWAYS a NEED

I love changing things around, stopping at the linen closet is one of my joys. I have a bad day…I just stand looking into it…maybe pull one out and it’s day done, all better ! I machine pieced this quilt and had it long arm quilted. I think it was one of the boys??? All new to me !

I used scraps for the back and just had fun.

Used no pattern just pieced and let it happen.
