My NEW Password Log Book

Make it Simple and Do it !

Why I Created Our New Password Log Book: Love, Loss, and the Details We Leave Behind. NO ONE wants to think about any of this, but please do !

This book wasn’t something I planned to make. It grew out of one of those life moments that leaves you both grateful and a little rattled.

password log book from The Quilt Ladies
Simple and easy log book

When my husband stepped up as executor for a dear friend’s estate, we found ourselves knee deep in paperwork, locked accounts, unanswered security questions, and endless guessing about passwords.

The stress was real, but more than that, there was a quiet sadness that lingered over every, “how would our children want us to do this?” The experience taught us something simple but important: write things down.

Not just the big stuff, like insurance policies and banking info, but the everyday little details too. Websites, usernames, passwords, PIN numbers, phone unlock codes… all the things that seem small, until you need them and don’t have them.

So that’s why this Password Log Book exists. It’s for today—so you don’t waste time resetting passwords or searching for account numbers.
And it’s for tomorrow—offering peace of mind for the people who may someday need to step in for you.

Simple, Easy Password Log Book

It’s organization, yes—but more than that, it’s a quiet kind of love. Love remembers. And this is one small way to make sure everything important is written down, kept safe, and easy to find when it matters most.

How to Mend an Old Quilt

Make a Template and Pick Fabrics

A few weeks ago, I showed Husbands fishing quilt, and was asked about an older post I did a few years ago, found it and here it is.

(Revised)
I’m always on the look out for old quilts and IF I think I can save them I purchase.
They have to be washable and usable, nothing better, no matter the temperature is a quilt to cuddle in. This is(was) a recent purchase !

How to fix and old quilt by hand stitching it

There are 3 blocks that needed attention,
I ALWAYS wash quilts before I mend, this one turned out
VERY nice, they usually do !

Try to make it exact and add seam allowance at the time of cutting (it’s easier to do this way)

Fold the sides over, I like to press everything and I use the tip of the small scissors to hold as the fabric will get HOT !

Mending the Fish Quilt

Fixing a Loved Quilt

Last weeks, weekly quilt block was my fish quilt block I did for Husband.
We have a culture here in our family of NOT giving up our quilts and here is how I fixed Husband’s fish quilt.
Laying out each place to repair
old quilt repairPinned it really good
old quilt repairAnd used applique stitches, by hand.
They were all on seams, fabric becoming weak?
I think YEARS of use.
AND let me add…PLEASE press your seams to ONE side, DO NOT press as you would making clothes. I know it’s a thing now to press open, but DON’T you will only weaken the threads and seam.

Little and Not Perfect Quilt

Perfect Is Not Needed

When I was unpacking and going through quilt tub boxes a few weeks ago. I came across this little quilt jewel. It’s little and it’s not a perfect quilt.
Little Blue and Yellow Nine-Patch Quilt

When it comes to making a quilt, here’s a secret: not everything has to be perfect! That slightly wonky seam? It adds character.

And it is PERFECTLY FINE! OKAY! AND IT ADDS A LITTLE EXTRA FLAIR.

Some of my favorite quilts have “oops” moments, and I promise, once it’s put together, all quilted and washed, those little quirks just blend right into the beauty.

Quilting should always be more about joy than perfection.
So press that fabric, thread sewing machine needle, and quilt with a smile, your perfect quilt is the one you are making now

My little quilt is a Basic 9 patches, set on ends.
I did it in strip piecing, cutting them 3/4″ wide.

The finished quilt is 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and yes, before you ask I am a bit crazy.
I have a couple of new ideas I am drawing it up and the unpacking has helped with procrastinating, I will  get started !

Turning Quilts into a Dream – My Happy Journey

Quilts into a Dream

I have so many new quilter’s finding me and here is just a bit about myself. Please keep following.
I’m Beth Ann—quilter, artist, dream-chaser, and the very proud owner of a one-woman business built from love, quilt patterns, book writing,  fabric, and a lot of stubborn determination! Last weeks free quilt block for you

free quilt block pattern from The Quilt Ladies

Years ago, I made a bold decision: I chose to self-publish my quilt books and patterns. Yep—no big publishing house, no fancy business team—just me, my sewing machine, and a big dream. That decision was the first stitch in what would become The Quilt Ladies, and it’s been an adventure ever since.

Early on I took a leap into the online world. Taught myself, took classes, and a  few months later, I opened on Etsy. It was scary, exciting, and totally mine. I’m a fast learner (when I have to be!), and I’ve embraced every twist and turn with a quilt around my legs, a full heart and a cup of coffee in hand. I turned my love of quilts into a business that brings me joy every single day.

But it’s not just about quilts—though, let’s be honest, I really love quilts. I also adore writing, painting, decorating, reading, rearranging furniture just because it’s fun, and diving headfirst into photography (which is a whole new creative playground!). I’m always learning, always creating, and always dreaming.

I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and over the years, my husband and I have called Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska home. We’ve been married for 47 wonderful years, and today, we’re living our “someday dream” not by the beach, but on a golf course in sunny Florida. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and full of sunshine—and perfect for quilting inspiration!

The Quilt Ladies has changed my life. This journey has been filled with color, creativity, and joy, and I’m just getting started. Thanks for being part of it.

With love and stitches, Beth Ann

My Anxiety of Anxiety Book

From Me to You

I know of what I speak. My book is what I have learned and my process through The Anxiety of Anxiety. My anxiety help book.
My entire life it was something I dealt with quietly, internally and even sometimes loudly. Never spoken of, not talked about until I happened upon my now doctor in my sixties.

The Anxiety of Anxiety Book

THE ANXIETY OF ANXIETY
Journey of Self-Care and Slowing Down,
My fourteen step plan. I am not a doctor, but this is now I did it.

Printed Copy   and Anxiety of Anxiety Book by Beth Ann Strub  eBook

I started Slow and Self-Care early in 2018, (if ONLY it was before) it’s been an on-going project. I’ve fallen short a few times, but always gathered myself up and started again.  The Anxiety of Anxiety

NO one will be free of stress, but you must learn to live and go about life with it. You need to make yourself first, this is terribly hard and still today, I quite myself, listen to myself and do what is need for me. Learn my tricks, my silent word prayer, mine is HAPPY ! over and over, hundreds of times in my mind.
Slowing Down has been VERY rewarding. Look around see what is around you, and SLOW is 30 seconds, not minutes slow, when you slow down YOU become first in your own world.

Tired and Always Tired?!?

Making Always Tired a Good Thing?

Tired?  You know what tired means? It means you actually did something and I keep telling myself that.
I Googled “tired” and it talked about running marathon, a brisk walk…I am talking about every OLD age bone hurting in my body, EVERY BONE.

And, let me be honest, I get good sleep.
You ever try to fall asleep when you’re well-rested? It’s awful. I just lie there, making sure the cable box light doesn’t go out, or making sure I planned the grain to go the right directions for the counter top project we are doing,  or did I shower tonight?

BUT tired when sleep hits me it’s  like a bear hug under my quilt. One minute I am thinking, “I should read” and the next, I wake up with  drool on your pillow.  Kind of Perfection.

Plus, I guess being old I can blame everything on being tired.
I put the milk in the pantry and my coffee cup in the fridge?
Tired.
Accidentally call your Husband, “Mom”?
Yep, tired again.

“And Yes, I ate the last four cookies, OF COURSE I DID, I was tired.”
See? Works every time.

So really, tired isn’t a bad thing???
Let the Library, office and sewing room remodel continue and YES, we put down the tile floor ourselves and YES it about KILLED me !
Just saying, “Good and Tired!”
