Every quilt and/or quilt block has a story and over the years I have tried to write a bit down about mine….Sometimes, it’s a few sentences, I add them to my daily calendar, love to read them years later. IF your quilt is a gift, PLEASE do this and include it with the quilt when you gift it.

Meet Beth Ann I’m a Quilter and an Author who decided to self-publish my quilt books and quilt patterns, with that I became a solo-business owner, Strubbie House Publishing. I’m taking my quilts and making a dream into a reality. I love quilts, painting, art, reading, furniture, decorating and The Quilt Ladies, they have changed my life.
I have been working on a hankie shirt. I purchased these hankies a few years ago and I’ve been seeing clothing using them (Pinterest) and I decided to give it a try. This is an old…Old Navy all cotton shirt, which I haven’t worn in a bit. It’s also one of the shirts from our overseas trip last year and I took a carry-on for 18 days and I wore it a LOT !
I haven’t been able to sit at my sewing machine for along time. It’s right there…but I sit down and I just can’t do it. And right now that has to be OK ! So, my shirt is hand stitches and hand quilted (top stitched). I laid it out on the dining room table and didn’t put it away. The idea was see it, do it. It worked !
Beginning cotton shirt
I used a total of 4 hankies, washed and ironed. I cut and appliqued each down and then hand quilted around the outside edge.
Added Hankie to front
Removed top stitching and cut down center and added hankie, stitched and top stitched.
This is my finished shirt. Only thing I would change is not adding to the side seams, it was not needed. I added a tuck or dart to fix it, or so you can’t see my bra !

And before you ask, You can use a sewing machine ! And, yes I really am that brown, Florida baby ! I wear sunscreen and now a swim shirt, (the one I wear) Sun hat too (the one I wear)
Read my book “The Quilt Ladies” 12 Quilt Stories and 15 Complete Quilt Patterns
“The Ladies” they are The Quilt Ladies. They quilt every Tuesday together and after years of doing that, they’ve decided to do a quilt pattern book. So “The Ladies” was born, a quilt block sampler pattern book with 68 – Eight by Eight Inch quilt pattern blocks. All straight pieced, all cutting and piecing instructions included. It was decided that the Eight inch by Eight inch size would be a perfect size for the blocks not too small and not too large.
I am having a ball with these Holiday’s so much so I’m adding TWO weeks for you. I know your homes are as crazy as ours but take a moment each day to just relax, and remember what this season is really all about.

Halloween in not one of my favorite holidays. I know…it’s from childhood and I just can’t let it go ! So, I’ve had to learn to do it a bit different or as I like to say, “My Way”
I do it with a great dress. This pumpkin dress is mine !
