It’s Been a Strange Week !

Hello, Everyone !  We are home from a long weekend visiting the kids, they needed our extra hands, and that became laughter, stories, and way too much airport time.
The trip was wonderful, but the airplane air, the shuttle? the train? the waiting…not so much. Let’s just say I came home with a little travel “souvenir”, the kind that requires tea, drugs, tissues, and extra naps.

So, this week, I’m taking it slow. A soft quilt over my lap, a book in hand, TV remote for baseball and football, of course MORE ideas already swirling for next week’s block pattern. Sometimes life reminds us to pause, and that’s okay, that works in well with my Living Slow
which is NOW on Kindle Unlimited too

I’m sharing one of The Quilt Ladies Quilt Patterns, a simple pumpkin quilt pattern. Finished quilt top is 15” X 15”

Pumpkin quilt pattern block

Pumpkin quilt patternStart piecing from top to bottom.

Row 1

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½” x 3”

Cut 1 Stem – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Row 2 and Row 4

Cut 1 Orange – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Cut 1 Background – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

 Make Triangle

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Row 3

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½’ x 3 ½”

Cut 1 Orange – 4 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut 6 Background – 1 ½” x 6 ½”

Sew between 2 pumpkins, and on ends 2 times

Cut 3 Background 1 ½” x 15 ½”

Sew to the top, middle and bottom

Cut Binding 2 ½”  x 65”

This is ONE of the Basic Quilt Blocks EVERY quilter uses over and over. When in need of a quilt FAST, this is my go to quilt block.  Finished quilt block will measure twelve by twelve inches.

Star Quilt Block Pattern
Simple star quilt pattern free
 Finished quilt block size
is 12″ x 12″ 
Cut 4 Soft Gray –
3 7/8” x 3 7/8”
Cut 4 White – 3 7/8” x 3 7/8”
Make Triangles
Cut 4 Soft Gray –
3 ½” x 3½”
Cut 1 Blue – 6 ½” x 6 ½”
Sew as shown

This is one of those quilt blocks that just says…WONDERFUL.
This Quilt Block is all triangles 

And it’s doable with scraps or as shown, colors placed. The finished quilt block is eight inches by eight inches. I machine pieced and do the quilt pattern in units and rows as shown below.

Let’s Make Grandma’s Quilt Block

This weeks Quilt Block is from my Great-Great Grandmother Quilt.
Here is how to make the Pin Wheel Quilt Block from Grandma’s Quilt

Free Pinwheel quilt pattern

Finished block will be 6″ x 6″
Cutting for ONE Block
 
Cut 2 Green – 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
cut each block from corner to corner
(shown as gray)
 
Cut 1 Pink 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
cut corner to corner and then again, corner to corner
(shown as red )
Cut 1 White 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
cut corner to corner and then again, corner to corner
(shown as white)
Piece 4 blocks together as shown 
Sew into rows
Sew rows together

My Great-Great Grandmother’s Quilt
This quilt was a gift to my mother from her Great Grandmother. And then a Gift to me from My Mother. Making it by, GREAT-GREAT Grandmother’s Gift to ME ! Well…That’s how I like to look at it.
I never met her and my mom only remembers helping with the peddle sewing machine.  I use this quilt and love sleeping under it. It goes in the washer and now living here in Florida and not having a clothes line it does go it the dryer….Yes… it bothers me too, but…. the colors are still very bright, but the Florida sun won on these photo’s.

Weekly Quilt Block Pattern

Log Cabin Quilt Block

The simple Log Cabin quilt block is one of the most beloved and timeless patterns in quilting. Built around a central square, this block grows outward with strips, or “logs,” added one at a time.  I have changed it a bit with the added squares in the colors. A Log Cabin block brings warmth, tradition, and a comforting sense of home.
