I say this a lot, this is one of my favorites quilt block to make. You can piece this is so many different ways, make the center one piece, make all the points different, or use two colors and make a very bold and simple statement.

It’s National Brownie Day and there is NOTHING BETTER than this recipe, I have used it for Years and I’m moving it over from The Quilt Ladies today !
See my Quilt Ladies Quilt Patterns Hershey Brownie Recipe You know when you pull out the Hershey Cocoa, the recipe is going to be perfect. HERE’S their website
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine (Use butter) 2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 4 eggs ¾ cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa or HERSHEY’S SPECIAL DARK Cocoa 1 cup all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Place butter in large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) 2 to 2-1/2 minutes or until melted. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well with spoon after each addition. Add cocoa; beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder and salt; beat well. Stir in nuts, if desired. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Frost if desired. Cut into bars. About 36 brownies.
CHOCOLATE FUDGE FROSTING
1/3 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
2-2/3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Melt butter in small saucepan over low heat; add cocoa, stirring constantly until smooth.(Mixture will be very thick.) Remove from heat; pour into medium bowl. Cool slightly.
Add powdered sugar alternately with milk and vanilla, beating to spreading consistency. About 2 cups frosting.

Nothing says quilting like a Log Cabin quilt block. There is many ways to piece a log cabin, I added all the strip piece cutting measurement, but I like to cut strips and sew. You do YOU !

This is a different take on a center of a quilt block and can be added when you like, here is how I do it! For this quilt block as shown, finished size five x five inches.
Cut 8 Green – 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
Cut 1 Red – 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
Make 1, 9-Patch blocks as shown above
Cut 1 Red – 3″ x 3″
Cut corner to corner
Block How To:
Cut your Squares (Pieced square) and cut triangles as stated in the pattern.
Sew on the top triangle, Trim the ends even.
Sew on the bottom Triangle, Trim the ends.
Note: sewing the pieces across make the square lay flat, as does trimming the ends.
Sew on the side triangles.
Trim the block make sure to leave the 1/4” seam allowance. Press
Trim block INCLUDING Seam Allowance to 5″ on each side
