Few days ago I started a quilt block, which I named, Star Around a Quilt Block Pattern, it probably has hundreds of names, but this is the one for me. Here is all cutting and Part ONE
From Part ONE to sew 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
white to top and bottom of the star quilt block center.
Take 2 – 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ white, add triangles to the sides
Sew as shown to each side How to make Triangles
Sew 2 Rows – Top and bottom
2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white, 1 triangle, 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″,
1 triangle, 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white Sew as shown, add to the top and bottom
Sew 2 Rows – Sides
1 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ color, 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white, 1 triangle, 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″,
1 triangle, 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white, 1 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ color
Sew as shown, sew to each side
Sew 2 Rows – Top and Bottom
2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ white, 2 triangle, 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, Sew as shown, add to the top and bottom
Sew 2 Rows – Sides 1 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ color, white, 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″,
2 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ color, 1 – 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ white, 1 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2 color
Sew as shown, sew to each side

Cutting for ONE entire Quilt Block YOU will need only 20 squares Cut 20 Assorted Colors – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ OR as shown here
Cut 5 – Blue – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Cut 5 – Red – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Cut 5 – Gray – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Cut 5 – Lt. Gray – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Cut 12 Purple – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Cut 12 White – 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Make Triangles – How I make Triangles
Cut 4 White – 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
Cut 8 White 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″
Cut 4 White – 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
Cut 4 White – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Sew 4 squares to make 4-Patch – How I do Squares
Sew 2 triangles together – 2 times
Sew to the top and bottom of 4-Patch
Sew 2 triangles together – 2 times
Sew a square to each end and Sew to sides of the Quilt Block

I have files of quilt blocks and I am going to start sharing them with you, this is one of the first quilt block we all made, a Star Quilt Block.
This quilt block has a finished size of eight inches by eight inches. Here is how I do triangle piecing and it’s also the way I will be present the quilt block cutting instructions, you have another way…you do you!
Cut 1 White 4 1/2” x 4 1/2”
Cut 4 White 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”
Cut 4 Red 2 7/8” x 2 7/8” Cut 4 White 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

I had fun with color on my block, but looking now, I would have made the corner green darker, but hindsight… If you like the center flower do a bit of fabric placement to make the center of the quilt block pop.

This quilt block is named Slanted Diamonds Way and has a 3 inch by 3 inch finished size. I used a five inch charm pack and mixed and matched colors. This is a quilt block is about the movement of the color in the triangles. How I make my Triangles
Cut 5 Colors – 1 7/8”’ x 1 7/8” Cut 5 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8” Make Triangles – 1 triangle left over Sew as shown
Sometimes I make a quilt block because I like it’s name and that is why this quilt block, Cat’s Cradle, it’s six inches by six inches using triangles and squares. Here is my how I make triangles, it’s below too !
Cat’s Cradle – 6 inch by 6 inch finished quilt block
Cut 3 – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 3 Colored – 2 7/8”’ x 2 7/8” Cut 3 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8” Make Triangles
Sew as shown
There are MANY ways to sew a quilt triangle. This is the method that I use, you do you ! ! How to make Triangles Take the finished size, add 7/8″ to it and that’s the size you cut your square
Sew Good to good fabric, with a pencil draw a line corner to corner, this is The line you measure your ¼” seam allowance from Sew from edge to edge use a ¼” seam Cut in half on the pencil line, trim threads Open and press to the dark fabric, There will be 2 blocks
I moved the gray to the pin wheel on this size and added fun colors to the edge triangles. I do my piecing the same way for all sizes of triangles. Making Triangles
Pin Wheel Around 3 inch by 3 inch finished quilt block
Cut 3 Colors – 1 7/8”’ x 1 7/8” Cut 3 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8” Make Triangles – 1 triangle left over
