Six by Six Inch Quilt Block Pattern

This quilt blocks name is Cat’s Cradle, with a finished size of 6 inches by 6 inches. The center quilt fabric is the one that pops as I pieced the quilt block. Triangle how to as I do them is here for you.

Triangle Quilt Block to Make

Cat’s Cradle Triangle Quilt Block

Sometimes I make a quilt block because I like it’s name and that is why this quilt block, Cat’s Cradle, it’s six inches by six inches using triangles and squares. Here is my how I make triangles, it’s below too !

Cat’s Cradle –  6 inch by 6 inch finished quilt block

Cut 3  – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 3 Colored – 2 7/8”’ x 2 7/8”
Cut 3 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Sew as shown

There are MANY ways to sew a quilt triangle. This is the method that I use, you do you ! !
How to make Triangles
Take the finished size, add 7/8″ to it and that’s the size you cut your square

Sew Good to good fabric, with a pencil draw a line corner to corner, this is
The line you measure your ¼” seam allowance from
Sew from edge to edge use a ¼” seam
Cut in half on the pencil line, trim threads
Open and press to the dark fabric,
There will be 2 blocks

Breaking Down How to Sew a Quilt Block

It’s a Quilt Block Pattern kind of day, This quilt block is “Rolling Star”
New to quilting, move down a bit in the post and walk through the quilt block in steps. 

Finished Block Size is 10″ x 10″

Cutting for entire block
Cut 1 White – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 2 Blue – 2 ½” x 1 ½”
Cut 2 Blue – 4 ½” x 1 ½”
Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 4 ½”
Cut 8 Pink – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Draw line on back corner to corner
 this is your sewing line
Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 16 Blue – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Cut 16 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 4 Blue – 1 ½” x 1 ½”
