February Quilt Pattern and Free Table Topper Quilt
With so much going on, I kind of missed my birthday… but I have reached the ripe old age of 66 and some days everything seems to hurt. My Florida swim body now feels a bit saggy, and I have learned a new morning routine of time to get everything moving again. I have been trying to have self-care be more than a bubble bath. Taking walks, laughing quilting, drawing, read or just being, whatever helps me find peace within yourself and relaxes your mind.
But, who needs a bikini body when you’ve got quilts, a bit of wisdom and experience of a life well-lived? I have family, friends, a huge cup of coffee, a quilt, a book and a comfy home. Life is wonderful
I am so very lucky to be able to quilt with a small quilt/craft group every Monday. Last spring one of the quilters said, “I’m cleaning my fabric’s out, what colors do you all want?” I said anything Christmas, well over the next few weeks I received a lot of fabric. I decided to make quilt for the holiday’s for our king size bed, and it turned out huge. A Log Cabin Christmas quilt for me! Most of the reds and black edging fabric I had. And here it is.
We have been sleeping under it for a few months, and I will probably leave it on for a bit longer…I love it. Machine pieced and long arm quilted.
It’s a bed spread quilt, loving it! It’s HUGE !
What is the easiest quilt pattern to make…a log cabin quilt block?
Or a 4-patch quilt block… they are BOTH here for you in one quilt block.
Simple Log Cabin Quilt Block Center cuts are 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Then I just cut 1 1/2″ strips, sewed around as you would any log cabin block 8″x8″
The Wedding Quilt is my wedding quilt pattern, it’s my Dream Quilt. At the time of our wedding I made all my clothes and had not even thought of making quilts. But after the boys arrived, Husbands job moved us all around and being alone with little ones I found quilting.
Writing The Quilt Ladies books I had one of the Ladies getting married, it was time for MY dream a wedding quilt pattern and that became a Wedding quilt to be designed and made by me. Our wedding colors were Red and White, so this quilt had to be red and white.
I wanted this/my quilt to be both pieced and applique. At the time of making it I needed a hand applique project to take with me. Sewing all the units as in the quilt pattern and taking the leave blocks along in my bag, hand work as always with me. Included in the quilt pattern is hand appliques instructions, I needle turn my applique and how to use fusible web as your way to add leaves.
The hope had been to hand quilt this quilt top, that didn’t happen, life became complicated and this quilt was long arm quilted. It’s VERY nice, BUT in my heart of hearts…it should be hand quilted by me…just saying.
The Quilt Ladies Wedding Quilt is made up of Twelve, 12” x 12” quilt blocks, each quilt block has stems and applique leaves in each corner. The outside border continues the pieced leaves, applique stems and leaves. Each quilt block is bordered so that quilting can to added with loads of space. This quilt has a finished size of 93” x 78”

I love quilt patterns, changing and rearranging the pieces into something new makes me happy. Sharing them is one of my favorites too. Today’s finished quilt block is eight inches by eight inches. Please don’t let the size overwhelm you, the quilt squares are cut one at a half and the triangles are two and a half, nothing hard to do.(cut 2 7/8″)
This is a wonderful quilt pattern to move color around the block. Maybe try the triangle as one color and square another?? Have FUN

Summer Quilt Planning starts with a NEW Quilt Pattern. After you have the quilt pattern it’s all about the fabric. I always say, purchase ONLY what you LIKE, what you can afford and ALWAYS 100% cotton. “I” and I repeat, “I” like to wash, dry and iron my fabrics, BEFORE I start cutting them. This is MY Quilt, “PUT on Some RED Lipstick and Let’s Quilt”
When I purchase fabric and have NO idea what I will be making with it, I always purchase 2 to 3 yards. These red and white’s are all from my fabric closet and some are getting old, as long as the cotton is still tight, it’s just fine to work with.
Whenever possible I like to chain piece and this is the start of my piecing of squares.
Take a Moment and Stop Over and See my Quilt Ladies Quilt Pattern Shop, on Etsy. Etsy is 100% safe and always open. My quilt patterns are all reasonable priced, so all can afford them.
