My Birthday was over this past weekend and thank you to all, I had a fantastic day/weekend ! So, much so I have posting one of my favorite all time posts and it’s quilt block is below too !
This quilt was a gift to my mother from her Great Grandmother. And then a Gift to me from My Mother. Making it my, GREAT-GREAT Grandmother’s Gift to ME ! Well…That’s how I like to look at it. I
never met her and my mom only remembered helping with the peddle sewing machine. I use this quilt and love sleeping under it. It does not go in the washer and now living here in Florida and not having a clothes line it does go it the dryer….Yes… it bothers me too, but…. the colors are still very bright.
Let’s add a bit more to a basket quilt block from the one we did last week. This quilt block has triangle handle and base. Nothing says traditional quilt block more than 2 colors. This quilt block has a finished size of eight inches by eight inches. Any two colors will work, anything with white will be perfect.
Let’s go simple this quilt with a
a VERY BASIC quilt block, basic piecing techniques, making it an easier quilt block to piece together. This quilt block a classic, with a finished size of eight inches by eight inches.
Cut 1 Color 6 7/8” x 6 7/8” triangles Cut 1 White 6 7/8” x 6 7/8” triangles Reserve extra triangle of another block

Yes, Let’s start at the VERY beginning with a quilt square. I will be building from this simple quilt block pattern, and changing placement and color over the next few weeks, see how a simple quilt block is transformed.
But today, this simple quilt block pattern has a finished size of eight inches by eight inches.
As 2024 wraps up, it’s hard not to reflect on a year that felt like a marathon through the medical wing of life. Quilt Pattern for you to make below too!
While it wasn’t the year I imagined, but we powered through. Leaving this chapter behind feels fantastic, but mostly it’s a chance to breathe, heal, and look ahead. I took many notes of all the testing and process of Husbands 2/3 pancreas and spleen removal. I am working on putting it into book form or into handbook form, I hope to sale some and then again…it’s a bit of a surgery…and wish all going through health issues a hug of love.
So here’s to closing the door on a tough but transformative 2024. We have done the hard part, and now it’s time to embrace a new year filled with brighter days, fewer hospital visits, and a whole lot more joy. Cheers to resilience, healing, and the hopeful possibilities of what’s ahead!
Each year I try to work into my daily life a word, and this year it’s HAPPY. Happy to laugh, happy to quilt, happy to have health and just happy to just be. Join me in Happiness. And the best happiness? A Quilt Ladies quilt block !
