The other morning I was chilled here in Florida and I was to lazy to get my own quilt and Husband’s was there…Isn’t it pretty. Well, yes…BUT
Husband’s quilt is the softest quilt in the house.
That’s all about the fabric quality, (purchase the best you can afford)
I machine pieced it, say 1985ish, and tied it with yarn. It’s been washed and dried for YEARS and over all it looks pretty good. All of us on our sites try VERY hard to make everything perfect, right lighting, right look, etc. etc. The truth is NOT always perfect.
The Quilt itself is pretty good but the binding has not faired well. Yes, it was doubled, machine sewn on and hand sewn down. BUT….
It’s not aging well, and that’s OK. (pic I would have shared, no one would see)
Husband wants it left just as it is and I will not be repairing it.

The Ladies Quilt Pattern started early on in my quilt designing. I love sampler quilts, I draw and draw quilt blocks. Some are classic ones and some are the ones I designed.
When I was designing and planning this quilt, I was home day after day. I would spend entire days piecing quilt blocks. Kind of my heaven and there are 68 quilt blocks in this quilt book/pattern. Husband worked twelve-hour days, six days a week. And I seemed to be able to be content and happy in my world of quilt blocks. The Ladies at my ETSY Quilt Pattern Shop The Ladies in Print and NOW an eBook
The thing that took The Ladies to the next level was the trip to the fabric shop. I was always hoping to own a shop,(dream) any way, I knew the blue fabric was right when I saw it. Purchasing fabric is kind of a sport to me and I do it ALL the time. Knowing the blue was going to be the base and pop color of the quilt I purchased about 5 yards. Way more than would be needed. But…more is more. The additional colors, pink, green and the blue pattern were from my scrap closet that I had on hand. With this quilt I figured out each blocks colors as I pieced it, but not each quilt block as it would be put together into the quilt. And/or what quilt block would be placed next to each other. See one of The Ladies, quilt patterns.

I pretty much dream quilt blocks…I love moving around pieces and changing each quilt block with small pattern changes or fabric colors. These quilt blocks came about from my small quilt groups challenge of taking the same quilt center and we each do a quilt block and see what we come up with. I designed twenty-eight quilt blocks…and made the ones here… I pretty much turned the group sideways, as they weren’t that receptive… You know a quilt group, follow the rules, didn’t hear any rules…but that’s OK, here they are for YOU ! Each quilt block has a finished size of 12” x 12”
I am working to get more of my titles in PRINT, thank you all so MUCH for your support

This is My first quilt In the early 1980’s we moved to Burlington, Iowa, it’s in the southeastern corner of the state on the Mississippi River and yes, I learned how to spell Mississippi. The Quilt Ladies Quilt Pattern Shop
I had done some quilt blocks, some pillows and then I saw in the paper a class being hosted by the local quilt group. I remember it being expensive and how I agonized over it for days. but, finally signed up.
The teacher was “Liz Porter” at the time she worked for one of the magazines, Better Homes maybe, but is was a wonderful day and I learned so much.
It was a color class which meant nothing to me at the time, looking at the quilt today I didn’t get the whole idea. Liz brought letters to add to each quilt to identify, I used my initials.
Hand quilting was so relaxing to me, I had no frame, just a dining room table, pinned it very well and quilted. I checked out library books on how to do everything. The quality of books we have now is crazy different from then.
I was approached to join the quilt group after the class. I think I was a rarity in the group a “new” member. I remember being laughed at when they saw my round corners (months later) on the quilt. I love these corners. This is my quilt, I curl up under it daily, it’s washed all the time and it’s just over 43 years old. It’s never looked better to me.
