I’ve been hand quilting for quite a bit on this, it is what I had been working on at my Monday quilt group. So every Monday I stitch at home and it’s now all done. When I was teaching, this was my beginner’s quilt 5 week class, the classes quilt pattern would have been 2 1/2″ squares, I cut mine down for a table topper size. Taper Candles
The squares are cut 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ the triangles cut 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ Machine pieced and hand quilted.
On a regular size quilt, I would cut my binding strips 2 1/2″ wide, but on this little one, I cut them 1 1/4″ wide.
I like, little quilts to have little binding.
All the sewing is the same, 1/4″ seam allowance.
But, I like to trim the backing and batting about in half. My sewing scissors
This is before the binding is turned and sewn down. You can turn it under and see what you like before trimming around the entire quilt. I like to hand sew the binding down, I can get the corners, better and yes, you will have to mess with them a bit to get them perfect, they are VERY tiny.
This pattern is “Medallion Square” and it’s a fun quilt block. Pull out scraps and have FUN ! This is from my book at The Quilt Ladies Shop !
I cut squares and just pieced. If you want it to be as pictured, get out your colored pencils and take a few moments and decide the placement of all the colors. The center white space can be any color or maybe a signature block. Have fun !
This is another fun and quirky quilt pattern block for you to make. I like the way it’s traditional with a twist on the top. Basic straight line piecing using squares and triangles. It has a finished size of six inches by six inches.
