A Little Bit of a Quilt Block

Two Inch Quilt Block Pattern

Let’s change things a bit, today this little quilt block pattern has a finished size of two inches by two inches.
I use a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew the seam and then trim down to about an 1/8″ seam allowance and press, just as you would with a larger quilt block. SEE all my quilt patterns HERE

Make largest triangles

2 Medium 1 3/8″ X 1 3/8″
2 White 1 3/8″ X 1 3/8″

2 White 1″ X 1″

2 Light 1″ X 1″

Finished size of all the quilt blocks over the next year will be 12″ x 12″. Each quilt block will have the CENTER block in some form. YOU do YOU with color, use what you have or off to a quilt shop ! Don’t over think it, it’s a quilt block !

Cut 40 RED – 1 ½ x 2 ½”
Piece as shown for the center
Make 5 quilt blocks

Cut 4 Squares – 4 ½” x 4 ½”

Cut 8 Assorted Colors – 1 ½” x 2 ½”
Piece as shown

How to make Squares

How to make Triangles

White Edge

Cut 1 White – 1 ½” x 4 ½” sew to the top
Cut 2 White – 1 ½” x 5 ½” sew to the right side and bottom
Cut 1 White – 1 ½” x 6 ½” sew to the left side

Cut 2 Orange – 3 7/8” x 3 7/8”
Cut 2 White – 3 7/8” X 3 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 2 Green – 3 7/8” x 3 7/8”

Make 4 of this unit

Cut 1 White – 27/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 1 Green – 27/8” x 2 7/8”

Cut 1 White – 27/8” x 2 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 8 Assorted
Colors – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Cut 8 White – 17/8” x 1 7/8”

Make Triangles

Cut 4 White – 1 ½”x 1 ½”

Lay your pieces
out and sew together each set as shown,

Sew those units into
the block.

Cut 2 White – 2 ½”x 3 ½”

Do this 2 times

Cut 2 Lt. Green –
1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Six Inch Quilt Block Pattern

A classic quilt block pattern, Friendship Star and always one of the first you learn to make, squares and triangles.
Quilt block is a finished size of six inches by six inches. I make my triangles using this method, many ways to do them.

Cut 4 – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 2 Colored – 2 7/8”’ x 2 7/8”
Cut 2 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”

Triangle Quilt Block Pattern for YOU !

Six Inch Quilt Block Pattern

In the middle of other projects going I needed some sewing time, here for you is my Triangle Quilt Blocks. There will be six inch and three inch quilt blocks, please keep stopping back!

This quilt pattern is, Darting Birds and is 6 inch by 6 inch finished quilt block My March Quilt Pattern is here

Cut 3 – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 3 Colored – 2 7/8”’ x 2 7/8”
Cut 3 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Sew as shown

There are MANY ways to sew a quilt triangle. This is the method that I use, you do you ! !

How to make Triangles
Take the finished size, add 7/8″ to it and that’s the size you cut your square

Sew Good to good fabric, with a pencil draw a line corner to corner, this is
The line you measure your ¼” seam allowance from
Sew from edge to edge use a ¼” seam
Cut in half on the pencil line, trim threads
Open and press to the dark fabric,
There will be 2 blocks

Clip off the end triangles
