Here in Florida this is a very special time of year. It’s our spring time, we had a few Robin’s in the back yard yesterday and the days are getting just a bit longer.

I am making myself first and I know you all know how hard that is. I started a bit more walking, get my stamina built up and the 2023 Quilt Block of the Month is going too.

2023 Quilt Block of the MONTH – The Quilt Ladies

The Quilt Ladies Quilt Block for January

Changing things up a bit, I will be stepping back from a lot of what I don’t like…email newsletters, comments, overthinking daily posts.

Hate to say it BUT… I am exhausted.
For my books, my quilts and for my happiness,
everything HAS to be easier for me.

I will focus on the things I love to share and offer. The shops are still open, I love them and all of you for all these YEARS.

Let’s get started with what I love, a Quilt Pattern !

Finished size of all the quilt blocks over the next year will be 12″ x 12″. Each quilt block will have the CENTER block in some form. YOU do YOU with color, use what you have or off to a quilt shop ! Don’t over think it, it’s a quilt block !

Center Block

Cut 40 RED – 1 ½ x 2 ½”
Piece as shown for the center
Make 5 quilt blocks

Cut 4 Squares – 4 ½” x 4 ½”
Sew as Shown

Star Holiday Quilt Block

Adding to Our Star Quilt Block Pattern

Here are some ideas to do with the Star Quilt block we have been working on. Links to all the star quilt patterns are below.

If you would like to do your star quilt block as shown above

Cut 4 Red – 8 7/8″ x 8 7/8″
Cut 4 White – 8 7/8″ x 8 7/8″
Make Triangles
Cut 4 White – 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″

Sew as Shown to star quilt block

Cut 4 Blue – 32 1/2″ x 32 1/2″

Sew one to right side and left side

Cut 4 Assorted colors – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2

Cut 16 Assorted Colors – 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″
Cut 16 White – 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″
Make Triangles – Make Corner stars

Sew stars to ends of blue strips and sew blue strips to Top and Bottom

The quilt as shown here will have a finished size of 40″ x 40″
