A Fresh Look at Retirement

How To Survive Retirement

This week I have been working on something a little different from quilt patterns and fabric, but I have added a quilt block for you below. And, please notice my new site banner!

I have revised and updated my book, How to Survive Retirement, and I am excited to finally share it with you.

How To Survive Retirement with fun, Beth Ann Strub

When I first wrote the book, I wanted to talk about retirement honestly, the everyday side. The part no one really prepares you for. The changes in routines, relationships, friendships, purpose, and even figuring out what to do every day!

As the years have gone by, I have learned even more. Retirement is not something you arrive at and automatically know how to do. It is a time of life that requires adjustments, patience, humor, and sometimes a complete change of plans. That is why I decided to revisit the book and add more practical ideas on how to retire happy.

The revised edition is now 110 pages and includes 14 chapters covering topics many of us face every day: (no money talk)

  • Investing in relationships
  • Dealing with change
  • Finding humor in life
  • Being kind to yourself
  • Taking time for yourself
  • Moving to a new area
  • Dealing with aging parents
  • Lessons learned along the way
  • Words and phrases to stop saying
  • And many more practical retirement topics

This is  a book filled with  living well, finding joy, staying connected, and creating a retirement life you truly enjoy.

As quilters, we know life is stitched together one piece at a time. Retirement is much the same. Some blocks are planned. Some are surprises. Some require a little ripping out and starting over. In the end, it all comes together into a beautiful quilt called life.
