A Fresh Look at Retirement

How To Survive Retirement

This week I have been working on something a little different from quilt patterns and fabric, but I have added a quilt block for you below. And, please notice my new site banner!

I have revised and updated my book, How to Survive Retirement, and I am excited to finally share it with you.

How To Survive Retirement with fun, Beth Ann Strub

When I first wrote the book, I wanted to talk about retirement honestly, the everyday side. The part no one really prepares you for. The changes in routines, relationships, friendships, purpose, and even figuring out what to do every day!

As the years have gone by, I have learned even more. Retirement is not something you arrive at and automatically know how to do. It is a time of life that requires adjustments, patience, humor, and sometimes a complete change of plans. That is why I decided to revisit the book and add more practical ideas on how to retire happy.

The revised edition is now 110 pages and includes 14 chapters covering topics many of us face every day: (no money talk)

  • Investing in relationships
  • Dealing with change
  • Finding humor in life
  • Being kind to yourself
  • Taking time for yourself
  • Moving to a new area
  • Dealing with aging parents
  • Lessons learned along the way
  • Words and phrases to stop saying
  • And many more practical retirement topics

This is  a book filled with  living well, finding joy, staying connected, and creating a retirement life you truly enjoy.
For Yourself or a Gift ONLY Available ONLY in Print.

How to Survive Retirement book

As quilters, we know life is stitched together one piece at a time. Retirement is much the same. Some blocks are planned. Some are surprises. Some require a little ripping out and starting over. In the end, it all comes together into a beautiful quilt called life.

This quilt block is a classic and

Make Retirement Nothing but FUN

My Book, How to Survive Retirement

After all the medical and having a view of living and learning from it.
I can only say, “Everyone NEEDS my Book”  and I am very proud of what this book shares. How to Survive Retirement

A Great Gift for others, yourself and it’s all about your retirement life NO Money talk.

how to retire happy or how to survive retirement

Looking for the perfect retirement gift? Whether you’re thinking about retiring or already there, this book will help you discover how to fill your days with fun, excitement, and joy. After all, you’ve worked 40 years to achieve this milestone—why spend it unsure of what to do next? You need a plan to create a retirement that feels fulfilling.

When my husband and I retired early (he was 57, and I was 55), we got the same question over and over: “What do you do all day?” Oddly enough, very few people ever asked, “How do you afford it?” The truth is, people spend years preparing financially for retirement but often forget to plan what they’ll actually do during this new phase of life. Retirement doesn’t come with a manual, but it should—because winging it rarely works. That’s where my book comes in.
It’s not about finances; it’s about figuring out what you want and need to make your 20-30 years of retirement meaningful, joyful, and uniquely yours. Think of it as the guide to creating the retirement life you’ve always dreamed of.

This book began as a lighthearted article I wrote, which received hundreds of comments, and has since evolved into a guide filled with practical ideas. Here’s a sneak peek at the Table of Contents:
• Why This Book
• Invest in Relationships
• Embracing Change
• What Are You Dreaming?
• Humor and Laughter
• It’s Just Me
• Never Say Never Again
• Be Kind to Yourself and Others
• Add a Little Luxury
• A Bit of Time for Yourself
• Be a Better You
• Moving to a New Area
• Dealing with Elderly Parents
• 20-30 Year Money Guess
• My Life Lessons

Retire Happy. Don’t let retirement turn into a rut. As I like to say, “If you’re unhappy, us other old people don’t want to be around you!” This book will help you design a retirement you love—and one others will admire.
