And speaking of joy, we have a Christmas day baby, my husband’s BIG 70th birthday party will be Christmas Eve. Things are ordered and trying to make sure the birthday boy doesn’t try to help lift anything heavier than a cookie.

Holiday Quilt Pattern to Make

Hello Friends! A Short post this week

This week has been a mix of real life and holiday sparkle at our house. Husband had a heart procedure on December 4th, the Watchman. It’s called a New Routine Procedure…But, it is SO scary…
I feel grateful for modern medicine, grateful for good doctors, and grateful for every person who has checked in, prayed, or simply sent a kind thought our way.
He is already to run a marathon. I keep reminding him that walking from the recliner to the kitchen is plenty of cardio for now. But he’s doing wonderfully, and our standard line from all his Doctors as they walk into see him is,
“You look good!” it never fails
and I love seeing him smile when I say it… at inappropriate times !
He is over the top in the looks department.

Painting Done, Make Fun Quilt Block

Hello All ! Welcome !
Hope you are settling into the holiday spirit. I have the tree done, gifts shipped and Husband has the outside palm tree decorated with lights all a glow. We are over the top organized this year and I will share more later.

This is what I worked on the past few weeks and this past week add Thanksgiving into it too ! !
My Secretary Hutch for our kitchen ! ! and I love it.

This old secretary desk came to me tired, faded, and a little wobbly ($50). Over the past two weeks, I’ve sanded, glued, repaired, cleaned, and finally painted it back into something that makes me smile every time I walk into my kitchen. It’s amazing how a little love, a little patience, and a lot of elbow grease can completely transform a piece.

I know some don’t like painted wood, this wood was not the best, pieced together a bit, I saved what I could and had a ball painting the rest. This project is the largest I have done since my library and it has reminded me how satisfying it is to slow down and bring furniture piece back to life.

I want later, I can change it

I’m sharing one of The Quilt Ladies Quilt Patterns, a simple pumpkin quilt pattern. Finished quilt top is 15” X 15”

Start piecing from top to bottom.

Row 1

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½” x 3”

Cut 1 Stem – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Row 2 and Row 4

Cut 1 Orange – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Cut 1 Background – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”

Make Triangle

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Row 3

Cut 2 Background – 1 ½’ x 3 ½”

Cut 1 Orange – 4 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut 6 Background – 1 ½” x 6 ½”

Sew between 2 pumpkins, and on ends 2 times

Cut 3 Background 1 ½” x 15 ½”

Sew to the top, middle and bottom

Cut Binding 2 ½” x 65”

Here is a Complete quilt pattern for you. I think it’s a fun quilt because of the colors and the black making it pop. This quilt LOOKS hard BUT it’s just triangles.

I cut 3 7/8″ blocks to make my triangles, you can cut any size you would like. I made and quilted this quilt YEARS ago and I have used it as a table topper, a front door quilt and as a lay over the back of the couch quilt for color. My quilt has a finished size of 30 inches by 30 inches.

For the center

Cut 1 Blue – 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″

Sew one orange square on to each end of two blue strips

Sew sides on first and then the top and bottom

Four-Patch Table Topper Quilt Pattern

Sew a Table Topper Quilt

4-Patch Table Topper Pattern for YOU. If you look close I did all my sewing by hand. Most will not, my office/library project continues….

Table Topper finished size 29″ x 34″

Cut 80 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ squares

Piece together to form a 4-patch block

You will have 40 – 2-patch blocks

Open up the 2-patch blocks, press the seam to the

dark fabric side

and add another 2-patch

Matching up the seams, open to check and

make sure they match before sewing

You will have 20 – 4-Patch blocks

After the 20 – 4-patch blocks are finished,

lay them out as you would like them

making a red four patch quilt table topper

5 down and 4 across

This is the sashing and border fabric, I always lay it out and like it, BEFORE cutting

Cut 49 – 4 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ sashing

Cut 30 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ corner blocks

Stack your rows up and move to sewing table, I don’t have a felt wall, so I use my dining

room table to lay things out.

Sew a 4 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ strip to each end and in between

each in the row

Sew 6 rows as shown above, 4- 4 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ strips and 5- 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares. Sew the rows together

Cut 2 Sashing color – 26 1/2″ x 4 1/2″

Sew to the left and right sides

Make the corners

Cut 4 Dark Color – 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Cut 4 Dark Color – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Cut 4 Red – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

sew together 1 dark and 1 red,

sew dark 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ on

Cut 2 Sashing Color – 21 1/2″ x 4 1/2″

Sew to the top and bottom of the table topper

Finished size is

34″ x 29″
