We were introduced to each other on a blind date. The first Rocky movie and a pizza. It seems we have been together ever since. Two boys, two daughter-in-laws and those four wonderful Grands.

We are pretty much together 24/7 and it’s alright with me. All those years of his career always being first, it’s pretty special to be first now. There is no one else I would EVER laugh with SO MUCH ! We can do ANYTHING with laughter !

The Wedding Quilt Pattern Book

Every Quilt Has a Story

The Wedding Quilt is my wedding quilt pattern, it’s my Dream Quilt. At the time of our wedding I made all my clothes and had not even thought of making quilts. But after the boys arrived, Husbands job moved us all around and being alone with little ones I found quilting.

Writing The Quilt Ladies books I had one of the Ladies getting married, it was time for MY dream a wedding quilt pattern and that became a Wedding quilt to be designed and made by me. Our wedding colors were Red and White, so this quilt had to be red and white.

I wanted this/my quilt to be both pieced and applique. At the time of making it I needed a hand applique project to take with me. Sewing all the units as in the quilt pattern and taking the leave blocks along in my bag, hand work as always with me. Included in the quilt pattern is hand appliques instructions, I needle turn my applique and how to use fusible web as your way to add leaves.

The hope had been to hand quilt this quilt top, that didn’t happen, life became complicated and this quilt was long arm quilted. It’s VERY nice, BUT in my heart of hearts…it should be hand quilted by me…just saying.

But, I still sleep under it just perfect and love everything about it.

The Quilt Ladies Wedding Quilt is really my quilt

The Quilt Ladies Wedding Quilt is made up of Twelve, 12” x 12” quilt blocks, each quilt block has stems and applique leaves in each corner. The outside border continues the pieced leaves, applique stems and leaves. Each quilt block is bordered so that quilting can to added with loads of space. This quilt has a finished size of 93” x 78”

National Pizza Day – February 9th

Make, it Order it, Just have Pizza

Or as I like to call it,
No Cooking Tonight, it’s Ordered!
February Fun Holiday’s

I did a bit of research to why National Pizza Day and I am pretty sure it’s a retail pizza owner started holiday and I love that.

Something about crust, sauce and cheese ! Add something fresh on top and you have me at hello. Remember, pizza has been around since the 10th century and here in American since 1905.

Most information I found states that you have to have TWO slices to be officially celebrating…and that’s easy ! LOADS of shops in our area have specials, look around, go, eat or make it at home.

Quilts Pics from Our Travels

Quilts Aging Well

When we travel I take pictures of quilt. I “ALWAYS” ask before taking pictures, to date I have not had anyone say, “NO” and most say thanks for asking.
I ONLY purchase quilts that I feel can be used and washed, there are loads of quilts to look at here at the house. It’s me…clean is clean, washed in machine, gentle and line or in drier till damp and then on line.

Notice the red’s and how it’s the color that has stayed the best over the years. I didn’t purchase these quilts, wish I had…

This is a simple 16 block square, each square was cut 2″ x 2″

for a finished block of 6″ x 6″, quilting had been recently done by machine, blocks were also machine pieced. I’ll draw this quilt block up and share soon !

Nothing is REALLY as the Picture Make it Look

Nothing is as it seems.

The other morning I was chilled here in Florida and I was to lazy to get my own quilt and Husband’s was there…Isn’t it pretty. Well, yes…BUT

Husband’s quilt is the softest quilt in the house.
That’s all about the fabric quality, (purchase the best you can afford)

I machine pieced it, say 1985ish, and tied it with yarn. It’s been washed and dried for YEARS and over all it looks pretty good.
All of us on our sites try VERY hard to make everything perfect, right lighting, right look, etc. etc. The truth is NOT always perfect.

The Quilt itself is pretty good but the binding has not faired well. Yes, it was doubled, machine sewn on and hand sewn down. BUT….

It’s not aging well, and that’s OK. (pic I would have shared, no one would see)

Husband wants it left just as it is and I will not be repairing it.

Remember, not all is as it seems.

The Ladies

The Ladies Quilt Pattern started early on in my quilt designing. I love sampler quilts, I draw and draw quilt blocks. Some are classic ones and some are the ones I designed.

When I was designing and planning this quilt, I was home day after day. I would spend entire days piecing quilt blocks. Kind of my heaven and there are 68 quilt blocks in this quilt book/pattern. Husband worked twelve-hour days, six days a week. And I seemed to be able to be content and happy in my world of quilt blocks.

The thing that took The Ladies to the next level was the trip to the fabric shop. I was always hoping to own a shop,(dream) any way, I knew the blue fabric was right when I saw it. Purchasing fabric is kind of a sport to me and I do it ALL the time. Knowing the blue was going to be the base and pop color of the quilt I purchased about 5 yards. Way more than would be needed. But…more is more. The additional colors, pink, green and the blue pattern were from my scrap closet that I had on hand. With this quilt I figured out each blocks colors as I pieced it, but not each quilt block as it would be put together into the quilt. And/or what quilt block would be placed next to each other. See one of The Ladies, quilt patterns.

The Ladies quilt blocks were featured on my site and after completing them all, the quilt pattern was finished added to Etsy as a PDF and NOW in Amazon as a printed book and eBook.

Of course, The Ladies, are really my Quilt Ladies and me.

Let’s Start New

The Quilt Ladies

Here in Florida this is a very special time of year. It’s our spring time, we had a few Robin’s in the back yard yesterday and the days are getting just a bit longer.

I am making myself first and I know you all know how hard that is. I started a bit more walking, get my stamina built up and the 2023 Quilt Block of the Month is going too.
